Thought about bank robbery. Decided that even though crime seems to pay, we aren't that good at that sort of thing. So how DO you prepare for a 4 year trip around the world? Hmmmm. Good question.

1.    We renovated and sold a beat up crack house condo in Vancouver after making it look awesome
2.    WestJet (Seth's former employer) has an employee share purchase plan. WJA got us half way around the globe.
4.    We had a weekly budget of $20 each for entertainment while living on land
5.    My entire paycheque went automatically into a money market account so I couldn't be tempted to spend it
6.    We pay for everything with an airmiles credit card so we can collect points and keep track of expenses
7.    We sold all of our belongings; furniture, vehicles, bikes, clothes, shoes, everything.

...and the ongoing things we do for our Slapdash include but are not limited to:

8.    Completed an online survey from Fido's customer service department and received a $5 phone credit
9.    Bought a popcorn & coke at the movies to get a 2 for 1 pass
10.  Battled massive crowds at Superstore to get the best price on groceries
11.  Brown bagged it every day to save @$50 a week on eating lunches out
12.  Shopped the Salvation Army and picked up a cute faux pearl necklace and wool sweater for $6
13.  Why buy fancy dress socks anywhere else but the Dollarama? Because you haven't thought it through, that's why.
14.  Instead of paying the $17 drop-in fee, I signed up for the (first-timers' only) one week unlimited pass for $3 more. There are enough gyms in Calgary to keep me at first timer status until June.
